Over the past four or five years a conveyor belt of young cricketers have had the good fortune to learn their skills at Cliffe Cricket Club and then move on to higher levels of league cricket.
The lessons learned as young teenagers at the Cliffe club have held them in good stead for games at NYSD league level and beyond. Learning about team etiquette, helping out with match day arrangements and batting on dodgy tracks (all away from home of course) as well as taking those first steps of playing alongside adults have all been nurtured by the likes of Ian Peacock, Dickie Adamson, Alan Curry and others.
Sometimes the youngsters find that District league is the level they are best suited to and remain loyal to Cliffe while others realise they are able to perform and stretch themselves at a higher level. Cliffe have always sent these lads on their way with their blessing which is in fact testament to the family atmosphere of a truly great club.
Several products of the "CCC Academy" have now gone on to represent Darlington CC at varying levels, some even to the heady heights of NYSD Premier league level. Others have progressed through Durham CCC age group teams and even on to the County Academy and foreign tours.
Wherever they have ended up playing their cricket I am sure everyone of them will remember the happy days at Cliffe and the cricketers who gave them their first opportunity of competitive cricket.
Below are some of the lads of who have moved on with their careers after being part of CCC Academy!
